The eary show of the two Piano and A Microphone Gala Events at Paisley Park is arguably THE Piano & A Microphone show you will need if you want only one recording from this era in your collecton. This version sounds stunning and feels like you are really there yourself. There are some slight editing issues though. The instrumental last part of I Wanna Be Your Lover for instance is now ‘the opening’ of Dirty Mind. The other tracks on this 4cd set are a bit of a mixed bag. Especially because they are so much different in vibe and style than piano tracks on the first part of this set from Sabotage. That said, what is presented here sounds absolutely wonderful and is a real treat. But maybe this should have been two different releases.

*Release notes from Sabotage: All shows included were carefully mastered track by track. Our Gala Event recording is now the new ’gold standard’ for this performance. Many great soundboard-recorded live tracks from 2014/15 included also which have not been available on SAB before! Limited edition of 1,000 numbered copies. Golden discs. 24-page, full-color, foil laminated artwork!
