Two excellent soundboard shows from 1981. The Ritz show, which is most likely incomplete, has some drop-out at times, but it isn't bad. The Paris show is bassier than the New York show. The set lists are almost the same. Includes a small fold out poster with period shots. City Lights is an amazing set of 11cds (9 shows) and is an important document of early Prince performances.

The New York show contains a rare live performance of Broken which is switched out with Jack U Off on the Paris show. This tour is also where Gotta Stop (Messin' About) was introduced. These shows contain some truly inspired performances of his Dirty Mind material. The sound has some slight hiss, but really is only noticeable on the quiet portions of the show, it doesn't detract from the listening experience, thus I won't detract from my rating for it.

Mike's Comments  (rates this release 5/5.0)
Both of these shows have a raw, unpolished feel to them which is lacking in just about every Prince show before and after the Dirty mind tour. Several of the tracks played - like 'Broken', 'Do it all night' and 'Gotta stop (messin' about)' - are unique to this tour, and it's nice to have them in such excellent sound quality. The choice of 'Jack U off' for the Paris show is unusual in that the song wasn't released until 4 months afterwards. In short - two superb shows, the only minor drawback being that it is unlikely the recordings of either show is complete.
